It's not like me to have only bought one game so far this year, but it seems like there aren't any games worth buying. Quality has taken a huge fall into the dump. Not for all games, but certainly most. Inspiration is hard to find in them now, the only one that seemed to have any at all was the recently-released Child of Eden, and even then it had so much potential that wasn't taken hold of.
I have nothing against first-person shooters, or shooters in general. But they dominate the market with rehashed junk of the same, boring formula. What's even worse is that unsophisticated, simple-minded preteens (that's not to say all preteens) buy every, single, one and label them an 'awesome game just because I like it, and other games suck because I don't like them'.
It's terrible that this is going to last for a long while, with horrible games dominating the market. Mostly because people who trust popular developers to bring them great games, end up buying trash, and being unable to take back their hard-earned money, fuel the next upcoming rehash or uninspired money-pit.
I bid 'true' gamers good-luck in finding anything good in this absolute dump of a gaming market.
